It seems so meaningless. If the grandfather thought so much of denying the girl access to easy money,he should have done it before now.
I don't think Obama or Bush caused the stock market to decline.
Actually, this way the girl we be better off (at least the way most of you see it) the old man is broke and she will have to fend for herself. Wonder if she will qualify for a PELL grant, become successful, and see how a gov't program helps a person with limited means.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2668452172634424828.post-84518937379932588462010-02-20T10:06:18.748-08:002010-02-20T10:06:18.748-08:00I love this post. We have felt the crush from Obama administration also and I cringe everytime he blames the Bush administration. I find it interesting that all the local companies and factories closed after his election. When he spouts off about how he's going to tax our large companies and then wonders why they won't stay in the US. It is sad that our freedom is slowly being chipped at for one reason or another in the name of a better nation.
I get frustrated when I see people on welfare living it up with foodstamps and government checks and yet my hubby is out busting his butt to earn a living. We have a business and my hubby has been trying to find a "real" job for security. I have always been at home with my kids, but it looks like I may be going to work once my youngest goes to Kindergarten this fall.
I was registered as a Democrat but as I watched the politics run amuck I changed my party. I still believe in helping out those less fortunate but I also believe in working for a living and that hard work should pay off not pay for someone else to sit around doing nothing.
I guess I'm a bit windy there!Domestic Goddesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15460796074640596194noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2668452172634424828.post-51207027103794300092010-02-19T19:17:14.805-08:002010-02-19T19:17:14.805-08:00Most of us would do anything for our grandkids but...Most of us would do anything for our grandkids but lately the well is running dry thanks to progressives. First, thanks so much for voting ...Dearest Grammy! First, thanks so much for voting for my story on MORE Magazine. This is the second time I have read this letter. My husband's business partner's wife sent it to me several weeks ago. I think that it says volumes about the way we have raised our children as a country. Unfortunately I could really relate. I am glad that our kids are very frugal and that they don't seem to be living the "high life" while we are pushing along at the grindstone, however, there is a sense of entitlement that pervades the current generation. (Sometimes I wonder if that is what every generation says about the upcoming generation!) I want my kids to have that sense of accomplishment that you can only get by working hard and sowing the rewards. I also received an email recently that was a letter from the famous radio commentator, the late Paul Harvey. It is attached below if you care to share it with your readers. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in a gentlewoman fashion. It makes for a better virtual world! :-)

We tried so hard to make things better for our kids that we made them worse. For my grandchildren, I'd like better.

I'd really like for them to know about hand me down clothes and homemade ice cream and leftover meat loaf sandwiches.. I really would.

I hope you learn humility by being humiliated, and that you learn honesty by being cheated.

I hope you learn to make your own bed and mow the lawn and wash the car. And I really hope nobody gives you a brand new car when you are sixteen.

It will be good if at least one time you can see puppies born and your old dog put to sleep.

I hope you get a black eye fighting for something you believe in.

I hope you have to share a bedroom with your younger brother/sister. And it's all right if you have to draw a line down the middle of the room, but when he wants to crawl under the covers with you because he's scared, I hope you let him.

When you want to see a movie and your little brother/sister wants to tag along, I hope you'll let him/her.

I hope you have to walk uphill to school with your friends and that you live in a town where you can do it safely.

On rainy days when you have to catch a ride, I hope you don't ask your driver to drop you two blocks away so you won't be seen riding with someone as uncool as your Mom.

If you want a slingshot, I hope your Dad teaches you how to make one instead of buying one.

I hope you learn to dig in the dirt and read books.

When you learn to use computers, I hope you also learn to add and subtract in your head.

I hope you get teased by your friends when you have your first crush on a boy / girl, and when you talk back to your mother that you learn what ivory soap tastes like.

May you skin your knee climbing a mountain, burn your hand on a stove and stick your tongue on a frozen flagpole.

I don't care if you try a beer once, but I hope you don't like it.. And if a friend offers you dope or a joint, I hope you realize he/she is not your friend.

I sure hope you make time to sit on a porch with your Grandma/Grandpa and go fishing with your Uncle.

May you feel sorrow at a funeral and joy during the holidays. I hope your mother punishes you when you throw a baseball through your neighbor's window and that she hugs you and kisses you at Christmas time when you give her a plaster mold of your hand.

These things I wish for you - tough times and disappointment, hard work and happiness. To me, it's the only way to appreciate life.

Written with a pen. Sealed with a kiss. I'm here for you. And if I die before you do, I'll go to heaven and wait for you.

http://www.successinthesuburbs.com/Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01779365028624975689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2668452172634424828.post-42166532436122503302010-02-16T00:48:03.484-08:002010-02-16T00:48:03.484-08:00What a great letter!
